I had never heard of Raynette but I got a 23mm lens with that brand. It looks like an uncommon junk M42 lens - any references? Is it Japanese? Here mounted in a pentaprism Exa Ib, about the cheapest wide angle combination in the whole world (after the Vivitar USW).

I have never heard of Raynette but I wonder if is in any way connected to Raynox which makes some exceptional accessory lenses.
Give it a try. It might surprise you.

It did surprise me (I must say it is the first time I use a wide below 28mm). Quite decent at f5.6 and below.

I have never heard of Raynette either.
Googling the name doesn't come up with much.
Cosina, amongst others, produced lenses and cameras under several badges as well as their own. The name is not always what it shows on the 'tin'. It will be interesting to see if anyone come up with the answer.

I had also never seen that name on a lens, but it looks great on your Exa, and primary it achieves good results, like your picture.

Thanks! I've found some info relating the brand to Mamiya- or Yashica-made brands. But the thing looks more German than Japanese to me. Another bottom-feeding mystery!

Jump starting an old thread here. Soligor sold a lens of that specification. Judged by it's physical characteristics and serial number range, it was probably made by Sun Optical Co. of Japan. Your Raynette is likely a Sun product. Difficult to tell a lens' characteristics from a head on view.

Difficult to tell a lens' characteristics from a head on view. Of course, Bill. My excuses. Here is a top view. BTW the bottom says "Lens made in Japan" all right (I should have seen this before, age is getting me ;D). I believe your Sun hunch is right.
