Hi ! I came across this car at a motor show this summer: A British 1974 Centaur. I read that it is based on a Hillman Imp. My oncle drove a Hillman Imp ( sold it last year ) and it looked like a microwave oven on wheels powered by a lawn-mower engine. But the Centaur is one of the most venturesome designs i`ve ever seen. For instance the rear view mirror, which is placed outside at the middle of the front window. Sitting in this car allows you to look a basset hound straight in his eyes I guess this was no common picture on the British streets. MIK

The Hillman Imp and its variants were oddities in themselves. Rear engined, with a water pump that always failed, It was impossible to get at and several DIY owners resorted to cutting through the metal to get to it. If I remember correctly the engine was all alloy. I saw a few Imp specials and the occasional Concept car, but I don't remember seeing the Centaur. Strange - all window in the front half, none at the back. Interesting pics, thanks.
