I wondered whether to put these in zook's thread "Our Church" as they are a complement and a compliment to his pictures. L'Abbaye de Lieu-Dieu, Jard-sur-Mer, Vendee, France: The windows were taken from the outside looking in. The photos were horizontally flipped so the writing would be the correct way round. The final photo is in Devon, England, a little place called South Pool. I think the window is in the church there but I don't seem to have made a proper note. Anyway here is the window: This is a picture of the village itself. There is an amusing story about the church which I'll post later.

Dave, That French church looks totally abandoned. It's very photogenic looking. Most of the buildings here don't seem to have been built to last. It's a real shame, but as soon as they're empty, the windows get broken out, they get covered in gang tags, and no one takes care of them anymore. Some of the most beautiful buildings are in the most run-down parts of town. On the other hand, there are some real gems to be discovered if one takes the time to search for them.

Doug,
Yes, I should have said it is abandoned. I did find something of a history of it a while back, but can't find it at the moment. I think it had a religious order which lived in and, I imagine, farmed the land around it. It's a little away from the delinquent population so perhaps it will hold up longer. On the other hand it doesn't take too long for any place which is abandoned to start falling down even if there is no malicious influence from people.
Dave.
