I was feeling lucky on my way by a thrift store about a week ago so I turned in. On the shelf was the subject camera with f-1.9 lens, caps, filter and Soligor flash. Mirror was up, shutter was stuck open and it seemed like nothing was going to happen to unjam it. The attendant said it was mine for one dollar!
This model seems like a bayonet mount ST-605. All mechanical. A good smack on the heel of my hand unstuck the mechanism. It works now but all shutter speeds are the same. It just looks like it's probably gummed up inside.
I've always felt Fuji shot themselves in the foot when they went to a proprietary bayonet mount. Had they adopted the K mount they may have been more successful. Only aftermarket lenses I've seen for these cameras are X-Kominar.
Anyone here use bayonet mount Fujis?

Hi Bill
Besides the usual collection of ST801,701,605, etc. I also have 2 Fujica AX-5.....they use the Fujica X mount. Never had any problems with them. Haven't exercised them in a while...Hmm--reminds me to use them soon. Is that the same mount you speak of?

I am reasonably sure the STX and AX use the same bayonet. I have ST 705 and 801 also. Both have the same problem. The closing curtain bounces back or doesn't close completely, leaving a strip of over-exposure at one edge of the frame. My STX is quite shabby so it will become the practice patient!

Shall I send for a coffin now or wait a while?

I have several of the X mount Fujis. The AX3 is my favourite. You can get an adaptall mount in Fuji X and several others also did lenses. One of the nice things is that with the right adapter, you can use all the M42 Fuji lenses with full aperture metering and auto stop down unlike Pentax.

I just picked up a telephoto lens for my STX on evilbay. We'll see what I got when it gets here, eh?
