Yesterday we took a trip down towards West Virginia on the Ohio side so Freda could see the barges on the Ohio River. It was gloomy and overcast by the time we got there, and sprinkling out. I took a shot of the river locks at Stratton Ohio, and there was a riverboat with 2 barges going through the locks next to the powerplant.

This is the coal fired powerplant next to the locks. You actually have to drive under the plant while going north and south. This is Ohio Route #7.

This is a little further south in a town called Mingo Junction. Mingo is near Steubenville, the birthplace of Dean Martin. The towns are built between the mountains and are split in half by the highways that go through them. Everything is built on the sides of the mountain. If you have a house there, there is no back yard.....unless you include straight up. ;D Here is an example of the homes built on the side of the mountain. Notice the garage built into the side of the hill.

Picture 4. The houses are so close to the road. Scary. I hope Dean Martin never drove through there while he was under the influence which seemed to be all the time.

Hi Randy ! I was out for the same theme today, absolutely same conditions here a few miles away . I first wanted to convert them into B&W, but due to the weather conditions there is not enough contrast, so i leave them coloured: A sugar factory at full steam. And I learnt something new, I always thought that Dino was born in Italy. MIK
