Photo below was shot in 1974. That's me standing outside the barracks at Fort Lewis, Washington where I took my Army Basic Training eight years earlier. The barracks were built during World War II and were reopened during the troop buildup for Vietnam. Our company was the first to graduate after it reopened. The facility was closed when I visited it in 1974 and soon after that all the buildings were torn down. Wayne

I STILL have a pile of Nikons. Considering starting a collection of Ricoh SLRs and RFs.

I'm leaving tomorrow and going to Fort Benning for my grandson's "graduation" from basic. He is scheduled for further training so I won't be seeing him around here for a while. It is really too quiet around here! The camera bag is packed , all the batteries charged, I'll be ready for pictures even if I forget clean socks. I scanned this from wallet size.

Our next door neighbor's son graduates from Advanced Training at Fort Leonard Wood, MO next weekend. We're babysitting their dog while they attend the ceremony.
My military training was the hardest thing I ever did and also the most important as far as giving me self confidence and pride in myself.

Gerry signed up for ROTC in high school, it got him focused and on track in a hurry. He goofed off a lot in 8th grade, ROTC straightened that habit out.
