It does however live on in numerous narrow gauge and several standard gauge locations. The LLangollen line was opened in 1975 with 7 1/ 2 miles of track, with plans to extend it a further few miles into Corwen. The original line suffered was axed in the 1960s cuts by the infamous Dr. Beeching.

In the interests of maintaining revenue they no longer insist on the correct pronunciation of Llangollen before letting you onto the train.
