Go to "Pentax Forums" See "Check Camera Shutter Count". You will find more information about your picture and your camera than you ever thought existed. Mickey

I did have a programme somewhere that checked such as shutter count. I was horrified to see how many exposures my original Canon 30D had taken that I didn't look again. The URL to the relevant page is www.pentaxforums.com/pages/check-shutter-count-exif.html. However it's been connecting for the last few minutes, so I presume the service is somewhat over-subscribed. addendum: I've still not got through. It does say 'unedited jpeg': that is difficult as all my jpegs are edited as I shoot in RAW. No, still not connecting. p.p.s. just connected on a jpg - all the information except shutter and a couple of others things - I knew photoshop retained most of the exif, unless specifically told not to. It is quite ridiculous the amount of information there. Thanks for pointing it out, Mickey. Dave.

Thank you very much for bringing this to my attention. Reset my D700 to shoot JPEG submitted the file and got my answer. Lots of life left in the old girl with a shutter count of almost 8,900 considering I have had it since the first day they were available. The manufacture date was unavailable however. There is a ridiculous amount of info to be had that is not normally seen. Really appreciate the link.

I agree that the amount of information is overwhelming.
Most of it is meaningless to me. However, someone might find it useful.

It is very useful info and an especially easy way to get a shutter count which is what I was after. I wonder what all the other bits are for? I suppose it just helps the editing software to interpret the image. That part is Greek to me.
