Fast lenses can be charming. My favorite classic fast lens is the Canon FL 58 mm f1.2. One of the two Thorium lenses, Canon made. I used it quite often, either on a 35 mm film camera or on my digital GH1, but not always full open, of course. Here is a picture, taken with a Canon AE-1 ( at 1.2 ) Unkown child by bokuwanihongasuki, on Flickr and here one with the GH1: Canon FL 58 mm 1.2 full open by bokuwanihongasuki, on Flickr At that distance, the DOF becomes nearly zero Enjoy your nice lens !!! I have a Pentax f1.2, one of my favorite walkabout lenses for the LX or MX. It has wonderful bokeh. Of course the DOF is almost non-existant. On my Pentax K10d it makes a great portrait lens, equivalent to about 75mm on the 35 format.
And of course any lens of that speed is a great bragging piece!

Yes.. Cannot agree more F1.2 was the way for the optic companies to show off!

Interesting article on the OM system, if you have to have only one OM camera, which one would you choose. I have only one Olympus camera, the Pen F and its now under repair with Luton of UK. I hope I have made the right choice among the repairers in UK.

I have an Olympus something or other (I check later exactly what). For me the Olympus camera was the selenium cell Trip.

Will appreciate if any of you guys/lady may have the actual dimension of the Pen F mirror, I sent my camera to Luton of UK for repairs and service, it came back working beautifully, but when I install a lens (original lens) the camera gets jammed up. On visual examination I can see that perhaps the mirror cannot clear the back portion of the lens. when the lens is removed, the camera works again. Perhaps 1. The replace mirror is not of the original size or 2. Mirror was not installed properly.

Hi All,
Just a word about Luton Camera Repair of UK. Its been 2 months since I got back the camera and since then, they have totally ignored all my e-mails on the subject of the job. I guess its a lost case and I will have to find another repairer to undo this bad workmanship by Luton.
