Does anyone polish lenss?
I have a Retina 50mm f1.9 that the rear element has lots of fungus damage I can't fix so I'm looking for someone who can polish it off , or a good rear element.

Jay, There used to Adams Optical in London. I don't know if they still exist but I'm sure there must be someone who does that sort of thing. I can't imagine it being cheap though. If it's totally shot anyway I would be interested to see if you can do it yourself. I have a idea that first you make a negative shape, then, using ever finer grits between the two, polish out the defects. Carborundum/pumice/whiting then jewellers rouge. I'm pretty sure it won't work, but it would be fun for me to find out. Dave.

Jay Jay, I swiped this from Pentax Forums. I guess it may be worth a try if it can save a lens.. Mickey Jewelers cloth tip i've got a SELVYT cloth for polishing jewelry. a couple of years ago i used it on an old lens body. WOW!!!! i could not believe what it did for the appearance of the lens. furthur study showed that it's also good to use on the glass of lenses. i know a number of people that did not believe me at first but became believers after one use. ck it out for yourself. beware of copy cats. make sure the cloth is spelled exactly as i spelt it as there are knock offs.I just found this. www.starstruckllc.com/adhesives.php
Check their tweezers.

Fungus is a killer for most cameras. Whenever I find a piece of equipment with fungus I usually just throw it away to reduce the chances of it spreading to other gear. I would think finding a rear element on a "parts" Retina would be a lot less expensive.
