Nope, I stopped keeping track around 1800 and I'm sure I passed 2000 last year sometime. If you run out of room, money or spousal tolerance, THEN you have a problem.

I must have been much too restrained in my buying practices, I've only added about one camera a month over the last year, and have only somewhere around 350 cameras, but at least I have got another new toy coming very soon..hopefully it'll be here in about a weeks time.

I am afraid I would get out of control if I did not find "new" collectibles . After 35 years of collecting there are exactly 2226 photohistoric items ( mostly cameras ) sitting on the shelf.

I ran out of spousal tolerance at about 100 -- which was fine with me. Now I can't figure out how to ever get rid of the ones I have without a lot of work.

I am running out of spousal tolerance at a mere twenty and a few. I got a bit of grace by selling a few and forgetting to mention I also bought a few more. When she asks me how many, I do not include light meters, or range-finders, or cases, or various occult devices that seem to have found their way into my collection.

41 in a year is very nearly one a week - far too many.

That is true. My problem is, I am smoking and collecting ... hahaha ...

One good thing, what is holding me back from buying a whole museum is, that I really like to use the cameras. So, until I haven't repaired or used one model, I am not that hungry for buying the next.

And I also believe, that a little bit of self control is important for still being able to appreciate something. That's about everything. If I would live on a tropical island, I might not be able to appreciate its beauty after a view weeks or if I could eat kaviar and drink champagner every day, I would start disliking it soon, I guess. Everything, what is too much, let it loose its value.

I said somewhere (early on in my postings) that I am not a collector as such. Everything I have bought has been with the intention of using it. I have never, though, traded in to buy the next bit of equipment, so I have accumulated equipment. I have given a few cameras and lenses away when they have been surplus to my needs, and someone else has needed them more. There are two sets of things I'll never give away, nor sell: the Topcon and the Canon/Leica RF series. Nor, perhaps the Praktica LLC. Some of my best photos were taken with that. Nor the others actually. The Topcon stuff is top of the list though.

I have acquired a few things along the way which I haven't used, like a 6x6 slide projector and a 16mm cine projector, but they are the exceptions rather than the rule.
