I went to a garage sale along the road to relatives and found this nice Canon. It came with the EOS bag and cleaning kit unused. I ended up paying $25.00 for the setup. Everything works great and shot a roll last night but have to take it in to get processed yet. This is my first Canon SLR and am very impressed with the feel and action of it. With the 100-300mm lens is it heavy and gives it a very serious feel to it, unlike some of the other SLR's I have. KennB

KennB,
As an old Canon addict I can assure you that you will like it. Canon made serious cameras.

Mickey,
You're right, I have overlooked Canon SLRs all these years of collection until I obtained a FTb recently, they are definitely in the 1st league of camera manufacturers.
I wear spectacles and the viewfinder is spectacles friendly, this and its smoothness of handling, in short, it has become my favourite SLR.

Although I've never been a Canon owner, I have always liked their SLR's - both manual and auto focus cameras.
I remember back in the late 1980's when I was in retailing, Canon bringing out the T90. We just couldn't stock enough of them such was the amount we used to sell.
I hope you enjoy your new find.

I bought mine in 1985 and used it for 20 years without any problems before I digitalized. It still works like new. It is, without exception, my all time favourite camera. I think it brought 35mm camera development to its apex. Mickey (Only sightly prejudiced)

Thanks Mickey,
It was a shame they were discontinued and I recall when I first handled one as to how well it seemed to fit into your hands thanks to its design. I can't remember the name, but I think Canon had a flash unit specifically for the T90 if memory serves me right.
A funny incident I recall at our shop was when our stocks had run dry (apart from the cases), a guy walked through the door and without even asking how much we were selling them for, he simply asked if we had any in stock and if we accepted Visa credit cards. That probably would have been the easiest sale I ever made if we only had them in at the time, so there was certainly a lot of demand for these great cameras.

I can't remember the name, but I think Canon had a flash unit specifically for the T90 if memory serves me right. The T90 and all Canon FD lens mount cameras were discontinued in favour of their new EOS mounts. There were a lot of unhappy people. The dedicated flash for the T90 was the 300 TL. I am still using it on my Pentax K-5 thanks to its low trigger voltage. The K-5 built in flash has a serious limitation. While excellent for most uses, it casts a huge foreground shadow of the on camera lens if the lens hood is on or if a wide angle lens is used. The 300 TL when mounted on the accessory shoe presents no such problem and is much more powerful. Mickey

Mickey I had that shadow problem not long after I first got the the Pentax *ist DS. We used to have a warships museum in Wallasey docks and I went the one day a few years back. Several of the photos were largely spoiled as a result. I always said I would go back and redo them - but then they closed it down and that was that. The flash seems to sit higher on the Canons and it seems less of a problem with them.
