I'm looking for photos in and around Linesville Pennsylvania that are of the abandoned railroad line there. I've exhausted all the Google and Bing searches and I haven't come up with much except a photo of the Depot and Water Tower. The line ran past the Spillway at Lake Pymatuning where the ducks walk on the carps backs. Thousands of people go there every year to throw bread to the fish. Any help would be appreciated as I'm trying to develop a history page for this line. It was called the Erie & Pittsburgh Railroad, or E&P Line for short.

White, whole wheat, rye?? Bagels might be appreciated. This would probably be historic. Mickey

Randy,
I checked Google for E&P RR. I was floored by how much data there is about railroads. Not being in the least familiar with them I would not know what is or is not of value to a researcher. Good luck.

Have you tried the historical society, local and state. They may have something but ask if they charge. Some states will let you use them for free while others charge a nominal fee. In any case they will want to claim copyright to them and it would have to be noted. I have been working on a train book and wanted to use some historical photos and run into this. I did find out how many photos might be out there tho, and did find a few on line.
This brings up an intersting point. Materials that have expired copyrights that are in the states hands now become property of the state (or feds) and they pounce on the copyright. Some individual that has the photos can do this but through an exhaustive process. When do photos enter public domain, like written material?

The situation is that the area in question is very remote, and the railroad was abandoned in the early 1970s by Penn Central. South of Linesville is the Spillway area that is famous for the ducks walking on the fish's backs to get the bread that tourists throw to them. So the railroad part of the story is overshadowed by the tourist attraction. The railroad tracks at the spillway shared a penninsula with the highway, so things were very close. You can still see where the roadbed of the railroad was, as the rails were tore up but the ballast remains. from the spillway southward, the roadbed has been turned into a hiking/bike trail. I guess people didn't take very many photos of the trains. www.roadsideamerica.com/story/2204
