Hi ! I think this one is an interesting 35mm RF-camera: The Vokar II, made in Michigan in 1948. Bought it last week with a bundle of 1940`s cameras at the internet. The lens is a Vokar 50mm 2.8. It seems that this one does not hit the market back then. As I read, the Vokar had been advertised as miniature camera, but in fact it is a very heavy "normal sized" RF. It is perfectly working, even the slow speeds and looks like new ;D. Here is a link: camera-wiki.org/wiki/Vokar_IMIK

Hi Mik!
That's a very nice camera you've found! Those are pretty rare I think. I'm sure that when this camera was produced, any camera that used 35mm film was called a miniature camera. Where's the shutter release?

Is it that button to the left of the lens?

Yes it is the red button on the left as seen from the front, the right one is for setting the shutter speed.

At the time, since many of the common cameras were using 120 film and shooting 6x6, 6x7, or 6x9 cm format, 35 mm film looked quite small and was called miniature format. When the Minox and others brought out the spy cameras in 16 mm, they were called sub-miniature.
That is an interesting looking camera, sort of art-deco styling. It seems to have been a victim of bad timing, to be designed before the war, and have to wait to be put on the market.

I bet it it's early days 21/4 square was looked as as being miniature too.
Another interesting camera MIK.

I have a Vokar, which apparently works fine. However, the numbers seem to have been polished off the shutter speed and aperture controls.

It's a nicely designed, sturdy looking camera.
Are the film advance and rewind easy to turn?
