I took a chance on another Yashica SLR, model FR I. Won it for .99 cents US. The seller, who has a very good rating, says he doesn't know if it works as the shutter won't fire. I know it's electronic , so maybe it just needs a new battery. If that doesn't do the trick, I'll have aother project for those cold winter nights ahead It also comes with a winder! Can that be used on my FX-3 ? Doug

Hello Doug. I am a new member from England, still finding my way around Camera Collector. Sounds like you got a bargain with the FR 1. I have just bought a FR1 from ebay. Clean, excellent working condition with three Tamron Lenses a Contax remote cord and a camera bag. I was very pleased to have paid £49 Sterling for the whole outfit. When it arrived I found that the Yashica 50 mm standard lens was a f1.4. So I am a very happy person.......... With the camera was a copy of a test report on the F1 winder, it was very critical of the way it fitted onto the camera, apparently it tends to move around. I think if I had one I would be cautious about using it. I also have the FR1 system accessory chart, it shows the winder fitting onto the FR, FR1 & FR11 (2) doesn't show anything about the FX-3. Regards Richard.

Just bought another Yashica Body from eBay. A FX-D - It looks good in the picture, the body covering, for once, is intact and the seller says that it is working, but doubtful about the meter. The battery cover is also chewed up............. Willing to take a chance at £0.99p.

There are such things as Westons, or guesses, or the sunny 16 rule or 1/125 at F8.............who needs TTL meters, especially at 99p, mind you if I had just bought a Contarex I would want that bullseye meter to work!!!

I still use a meter on occasion, with my film cameras and digitals. It's how I was taught and they've never let me down. Besides, people often ask me what I'm doing, and it gives me an opportunity to do a little teaching Doug
