I found an Anscoflex II with flash and original box, an Esterbrook fountain pen, 3 Nib holders with a couple of nibs, a very nice , rustic picture frame ( I have a certain print in mind ), and a 126 film cartridge, unused, in the box. Cost me 8 USD total. We had a great time! Doug

Hi All!
Went to my favorite fleamarket today. Didn't find anything photographic, but I did find a couple of Sheaffer fountain pens. I collect vintage pens and pencils as well as photographica. I got two nice ones for 6 bucks (3 USD each) ;D

So, another fellow multi-collector. I also collect fountain pens among other things. I prefer using a fountain pen instead of either ball points or soft tips. My 'museum' space is about 50-50 between pens and cameras. I also have several other things that I collect, but won't go into that now. It's a disease, I know.

May I join the pen users guild?
When I started working as a Title Searcher almost 40 years ago lawyers did not like us to use ball point pens as they left blobs which made their hands dirty and the registry offices would not accept signatures in BPP ink as they claimed they could be transferred to other documents.
So it was fountain pens. I bought a small (4-1/2" when closed)Parker Vacumatic No.5. in an antique shop. It served me well for almost 30 years but shortly after I retired it refused to ingest ink. I have been unable to find a pen repairer who will repair it. I still use fountain pens but miss my old Vacumatic. I still have that elegant gold and black companion of yore.
I do not collect pens. The few I have were bought in attempts to replicate the feel of the Vacumatic. No luck.

Oh ... fountain pens. I love them !!! I also had a Parker pen about 30 years ago. It was a wonderful fountain pen ... slim, simple design, stylish and just silver. I lost it ... and never found such a pen ever again But just two weeks ago, I told my wife, that I want to have a fountain pen again ... and I finally found one, which I liked. Not like my old Parker, but still ... similar. The thing is, that the handwriting is completely different if using a fountain pen ... and much more beautiful ... at least mine.

Hi All! Mickey, Parker pens are very nice indeed, and I've had a couple of them over the years. This one pictured below is my favorite....... I ordered it from China! It cost me all of 5 USD, has a very nice weight to it, looks good, and has never let me down. It came with a pump system, but can take cartridges as well. It's really nice Doug

Doug,
I too have purchased pens from China. I think they are good value considering their low prices.
The one you have pictured is very elegant and seems to have a lighter, slimmer nib than those I have.
Can you please tell me from whom you bought it and the model number?

I still use this old Parker, and it works perfectly. I think it's 1970's ?

Reading all this, I suddenly also remember my very first "decent" fountain pen. Decent means, that it was tradition when I was a little boy, that most children got a "real fountain pen" as a present from their parents ( usually for christmas or birthday ) when they successfully learned how to write. At my times at the elementary school, the most desirable pen has been a "Mont Blanc Carrera", like the one on this picture: www.gilai.com/images/items/1022_big.jpgNot necessary to mention, that this pen did not survive the tough days of school over the years, but I remember, that I was so proud and happy when I got it
