Very classy camera, but too expensive and too late to compete with the Japanese, but such nice finish with the quality German engineering and superb optics, Zeiss nearly pulled off a success, but finally succumbed to the opposition. They still command high prices, especially the optics, which are outstanding for the period and still work better than most modern designs. Stephen.

My only complaint with my Contaflex is the weight - my hands are not what they were in my youth and holding such a heavy camera for any length of time has become very unpleasant. Same with my Bessamatic.

That's why I always carry a monopod with me... Someday I'll post pics of shooting the Contarex plus 4/250 Sonnar... you don't have to fitness anymore! Still, it's great fun working with these cameras (and very rewarding, as their optics are just great - as Stephen already pointed to.

I always though of the Contrarex as the Wagnerian cousin of the Contraflex, an opera star who was a bit overweight and cost a lot of money to sing!! Adding the Sonnar brings the weight to perhaps the biggest of mainstream camera and lenses combinations! Strictly for a tripod or a Bolex monopod, engineered to take the brute! The Russian Photosniper is modestly slim compared to the Sonnar Contraflex combo. Stephen.
