Hi All!, I picked up this lens at the thrift store for 4.99 USD. It looks and feels like a nice qulity lens. I don't know who made these and would like to find out something about it. All I know is that it's made in Japan. and... Unfortunately I don't have a working m42 mount body to try it on. I guess I'll have to buy one. Hmm, let me see......... Doug

I think it is the same family as a Prinzflex Auto Reflex 200 / 3.5 that I have, it's the same style and finish and the line can be found under many different names, Aragon, Hanimex, Kalimar and Prinzflex ( the house brand of the Dixons store chain in the UK ) The thinking is that they are possibly manufactured by Sun and just sold as badged lenses to different stores and retailers. My 200 is probably the worst lens I have, it looks and feels good, I love the silver finish, but try as as I might I cant get a decent picture out of it. I hope the 28 is better.

Looks like Alpex also made accessory lenses for fixed lens rangefinders. Those lenses looked pretty cheap. Your's looks nicely made.

Thye Prinflex 200 is on the right, no prizes for guessing that! 200mm Lenses by Mudplugga, on Flickr The build quality is fine, it's obviously a budget lens but still good. Optically it is poor, but it might be this copy. I bought a very cheap job lot of long M42 lenses and this was one of them. Just had a thought, is 'Alpex' short for ALlied imPEX - the company behind Miranda and Soligor ?
