A couple of years ago Bob and I got caught up in a new project...buying up a cheap foreclosure and getting it rehabbed enough to start living in it. At that time most of my cameras got packed up and ready for the pending move, including a couple that I had just picked up and never had a chance to check out. About a year ago I did get to the point of building shelves in my craft room and at least getting the cameras out of boxes and on display, but still...with the time spent working on the house and the increased commuting time, they just sat there on their shelves glaring at me.
This summer, it seems, both Bob and I have been more able to take some time to go on mini photo expeditions. At first I just took the digital camera, but last week, for the first time, I took and old camera off the shelf, cleaned it up and took it along.
Just before I had packed up the cameras I had picked up a Konica FS-1 complete with several Hexanon lenses..mostly for the lenses. The camera, though, seemed to be in pretty good shape, so I loaded it in my bag and took it with me on our trip to Castle in the clouds.
It wasn't a lot of fun. I'd depress the shutter, the view finder would go back. I'd play with the battery holder, put it back on, get a couple of more shots and then....nothing. I switched battery compartments with another camera, took a shot, took another shot and then....nothing. And then, near the end of the roll I noticed that although the camera was going through the motions, film was not advancing. At this point I was done. I wound the film back, dropped it off at the CVS near work and hoped to get...Something?
And this is what I got
02_2A by rwethairyet, on Flickr A couple shots of the mountains that were passably okay...I'd include them on a scrapbook page of the trip...maybe..
A couple of flower shots that weren't too bad...

And a couple of shots of the "Castle" that came out okay.

Actually on the photos that did come out, the colors were beautiful.
And then, just for total amusement, the last photo on the roll (or, better, the last at least 4 exposures, since I can see the trolley from the castle, a lake shot and 2 shots of the roadwork at the end of our road where they took out the bridge.

So that one has been put back on the shelf with "Dud" scrawled across the bottom and I now have a Konica T3 (the first camera Bob gave me when we started dating, in my bag and traveling around with me. Gotta say, I love the "thunk" of the shutter firing and the feel of the film advancing as I push the lever. Already an improvement, ha ha.
