Hi All! I just won the bidding on a Vito II . It's in an old Ansco case, and was listed (mistakenly?) as an old Ansco parts camera. The main photo showed an Ansco Memar case, the other photos showed a Voigtlander. I'm hoping for the latter, but if it's not, that's quite alright. I'll take what comes Doug

If you got a Vito II, it is a great little smooth folder.

Nice camera, good lens, the Skopar, which sensibly they settled upon, not offering alternatives, which they did on later models. It only minus was it looked old fashioned in the early 1950's, and appeared a bit complex to casual users, they later cured these issues with the Vito B. The Vito ll was very popular with colour slide enthusiasts, sharp enough for good appearance and good colour saturation. These days much depends on the condition of the lens, of course. Stephen.

The old fashioned look is a big part of why I use my Vito II. Another big part is that it will fit in my trouser pocket when I go down town which is more than my Vito B will do.

No Vito B ever stayed on the secondhand display in the shop long, they sold straight away, sometimes the same day they were bought, the same with Kodak Retina, but the Vito early folders were not so popular as Retina folders. The lens quality sold both the B and Retina. Voigtlander were widely distributed in the restricted import period in the early 1950's, as were Kodak from Germany. Other makes, especially rival Japanese makers, were either very restricted or not imported, unless via a large company like Rank was involved.

Hi All! Well, my camera came today, and it is indeed a Vito II !! It has a Color-Skopar 1:3.5 / 50mm lens, and is all there. Some leather is missing, and it's very dirty, but the lens and bellows look good. It was sold to me as a parts or fix camera with a shutter that wouldn't work, and a film advance that was frozen. When I opened it, I found a crusty old roll of some no-name film. I rewound the film and that seemed to do the trick Everything works fine! We just got back from Syracuse, and it's late, so I'll wait till tomorrow to post some photos. Doug

My first 35mm camera was a Vito II that my dad loaned to me when I was in high school. It was destroyed when their basement flooded a few years ago, but I recently acquired another one. It also has the Color-Skopar lens and Syncro-Compur shutter. It also came with a leather case. Getting the camera brought back a lot of memories.
