I have just found a working, reasonably clean Pentax k1000 with 50mm f2 plus a Canon 50mm f1.8 ,for £5 in a Charity shop. I don't have Canon, but it will join my other 50s- Olympus/Nikon/Takumar and many Rokkors. I am not supposed to collect any more cameras, but I have been trying out the 50mm on the Pentax K10d which had been superseded by the Sony A35/A290 which enable my old Minolta lenses. i guess I should get rid of the body...but it complements my Spotmatic!!
In manual, after a quick exposure check, the compact 50mm seems to transform the K10d, but this may be because I was used to an SLR with manual 50mm. Despite the crop factor to nom 75mm, it's the feel of the 50mm plus manual focus which works for me. Also, it appears that the camera stops down properly without any extra controls.
