As posted in the Train section, I am currently visiting Japan. A lot of photography is going on here! Film is very much alive with a good selection of most ISO setting here. Unfortunately I can't read the labels but I found something that works pretty much like Fuji Superia (my most used film). A lot of digital photographers BUT the serious ones with tripods and taking their time are, as often as not, are using film. I even saw an old Rolleiflex while going up a mountain side. Another guy was packing a Pentax 645AF and several lens plus an entire Canon film system. (His wife was carrying the heavy stuff). I will post pictures upon my return in a week. I have to confes to shooting mainly digital for its convenience. Sorry for the funny typing but the keyboard has Kanji characters and I am having a bit of trouble. regards,\ Phil

Phil: As I replied in your "Trains" thread, I visited Japan for some time, almost two decades ago. Looking forward to your pictures (and you've sent me on a hunt for some of mine)! Safe trip!

Rick: This response is actually for you. I just noticed your new avatar, and hope it is not something I have overlooked for a considerable time (wouldn't say much for my powers of observation)! If you have already explained it, forgive me for missing it, but I just have to know more about it! ;D

John,
You wascally ol' scoundrel, you!!
But I have wondered myself...! Is this avatar of Rick's from years back or has he recently gone with this style? Sure does remind me of the hippie era.
