Beginners: How to post photos on this forum

Ok, every new member asks how to do it. Here it is according to me. 

New members: Welcome! I hope this helps solve a common problem. 

The first thing you need is an image host. I personally use Flickr, Fotki and Photobucket. I will show you exactly how to post images on this forum using these three. Illustrated step-by-step. I use Chrome browser - others may differ slightly but the procedure is the same.

Fotki - my favourite...
You must create an account first. It is free and there is apparently no limit of albums and images you can put on there
Album A-Z thumbs. Click on the thumb to open image



Right click then select 'Copy Image URL'.  In Internet explorer it is 'Copy Shortcut'



Go to your forum page and click on the little image icon. If you are replying to a post you must select 'reply' for these options - not 'quick reply'. Right click in the 'Image URL' box and paste the link. Click on 'Insert image' and voila!

OK, Only three images are allowed per post. Here are my carnations.

Now Photobucket - More options but this is all you need: We'll use the watch photo. This is my Photobucket front page.



Click on the image you wish to copy...There are four link options to the right of the image. Select 'Direct'. Just click on it and it copies the link for you.


Then paste the link into the insert image box the same way as the Fotki link.

Flickr is harder as they prefer you to link back to the page. You can extract the image code but its not as easy as the other two methods.
One of my flickr pages:



Click on your image and select the curved arrow option to the right of it - 'Share'. Select 'BB code' and copy the link within the box.



You must paste this link into notepad to edit it. The bit between the and [/img][/b] bit is what you need. Delete the other text or highlight it like this and copy the extracted link. Paste it into the 'Insert image' box as you do with Fotki.

Thanks Phil. I used to manage nicely with Photobucket, then they changed the options, or at least I believe they did. And this site's box for posting images wasn't helpful either, at least it never liked what I pasted there. I've been reduced to copying a successful post, and editing my link to match the one that worked.
