My Leica Digilux 3 is jammed with a Minolta adapter so I dug out my semi retired Pentax K10D which I bought to use with manual 50 f1.7 and a manual long zoom. Despite a Sony A35 , I much prefer a DSLR.
The advantage of the K10d over the very restricted Sony A290 a is that there are two dials to set aperture/shutter speed on Manual However, I wanted to replicate my favourite zoom from the Minolta A290/A35 - Minolta 35-80 which translates into nom 48-120 .
Via e-bay.I found a pair of budget silver zooms with a Pentax of similar 1997 vintage as the Minolta lens .
The 35-80 has a tiny crack in the barrel just under the lens cap which should not be a problem but the 80-200 [ 120-300 ] which I need for the local air shows seems OK. obviously, they are not the best lenses available , but I am simply a considered snap shooter at heart and have no aspirations to a 'photographer'. I use a Sony 35mm F 1.7 on the A35 and CV 35mm f2.5 on the Leica M8 is I need to get serious .
With camera and clean gadget bag , it set my back £27.50 which seemed worth a punt , even if just the longer zoom and bag are useable.
They should arrive next week to play with.

I think you've got a bargain there.
We've not seen much of you on the forum dee, let's know how everything is when you get it.

The ASD causes erratic fascinations with gaps in between - if that makes sense ? The lenses should arrive mid-week , can't wait to compare A290/35-80 with K10d/35-80 ! I have been assured that the later silver Pentax AF lenses were quite reasonable. Retirement demands minimal outlay to continue taking pics .

A touch uncertain about the crack in the 35-70. I really like the 48-120 , it's not just that such standard 35mm lenses are inexpensive . I have had a recommendation for this lens - probably much like my Minolta version , so I bagged another for under £10 which is undamaged . Outlay at £36 now , but if the cracked lens is OK , it can stay on the camera plus a spare . dee

I picked up a 28-200 in PK fit from Lloydy, a perfect walkaround lens for my K10d - and my Sony. Long enough for the local airshow and wide enough for normal. The kit lens in my bag for wider shots.
