Hello, I've just bought a Zeiss Ikon Super Ikonta 530/2 camera, which I'm looking some information for. postimg.org/image/du735qqeh/Particularly interested in dates of manufacturing. I know, here are a few Zeiss experts in this forum If somebody would share information with me, I would be happy. I cannot find any digits on the leather part of the body. But here is what I found. Tessar: Carl Zeiss Jena Nr. 1716441 postimg.org/image/8fxgshnnd/Also I found that digit near lenses: 1261138 postimg.org/image/lzfv6h24f/

Tessar lens is from 1935. If the second number is from a Compur shutter, it is from 1931. It is quite normal for lens and shutter to have differing dates but four years is rather a lot. Could indicate a repair.
The 530/2 was made from 1933 to 1939 so, if that second serial number is the shutter, the shutter cannot be an original part. (Edit: it is the shutter and it is a Compur)

Thanks for quick reply! Yes, it could be so that camera has had a repair. But anyway it is a great camera!

First, welcome to this forum! Second, try opening the camera and looking on the side of the camera's back cover in the area which would normally be hidden by the rangefinder. Aacording to a contemporaneous brochure: Fabrikationsnummer by Hans de Groot, on Flickr If you have the number (one letter, followed by 5 digits max) we can try to date your 530/2. Your Tessar is one of a batch of 5000, the last of which was finished on 25-07-1935. Hans

Hello, Hans! Actually, you were absolutely right. I've found body number by the rangefinder as you suggested.
Number is: B71330. Is it possible to date it?
Kind regards, Paul

Hi, I'm new here. I also have an 530/2 recently bought for about 25€!!!. The serial# on the camera is Y40821, on the lens (Tessar 4.5/105) #1516075 and on the shutter (Compur) 1220276.
As I understand it:
Body late 1934/early 1935. Lens 1934. Shutter 1930.
I don't think that my shutter is replaced. I will remember that i have read somewhere on the net that Zeiss bought a huge amount of shutters from Deckel around 1930 and thats why they show up a few years later on the 530/2.
Can anyone here tell me from what batch the lens comes from?
Peter

Hi Peter, and welcome to this forum.
Your Tessar is from a batch of 2000, of which the production ended March 27, 1934. The computation date of this particular Tessar is labeled April 5, 1927. And the focal length of your lens certainly is 10,5 cm...
