The Nikon Z range are great cameras to use with adapters. In Belgium those adapters aren't available, because of the small market i guess inporters don't want to bother.
Upon 'till now that wasn't much of a problem as i could order whatever adapter i wanted on Ebay, either coming from China or the US. So in the past i've ordered Leica R to Z, M42 to Z and Pentax K to Z. these adapters are dirt cheap and well made . Things went fine orders from the US mostly arrived within 14 days with no problem.
However... as of the first of July tax rules of the European Union changed and even on items inported with a value of less than 19€ taxes are due. Wich means with the Canon FD to Z adapter i've ordered somewhere in july it took 14 days before i recieved a letter from the post office stating that a package from outside the EU had arrived wich will be released and send to me the moment i paid the inport duties.
The Item cost was 15€ inclusive postage from the US and i had to pay an additional 19.33 € inporting taxes. After payment the item would be send to the customs for further inspection before it would be send to me... One week later the adapter arrived in the mail, alls well that ends well. Still the same adapter would have cost me 37€ if i would have ordered it in Germany with delivery within 3 days. Now i don't know if the additional taxes i've paid on the item would have covered the costs to the postal and customs services for going through the motions of inspecting and doing all the paperwork for a mere 19.33€.
Or, is this just a way to (over) protect the EU market? Anyway if this is how it is going to be from now on i guess the EU has won i won't be ordering stuff anymore from outside the EU. Note: even gifts from relatives from outside the EU will fall under the same tax regime.
