I am a new guy here and thanks for letting me in.
I know how to load film in a camera for sure, but I just can't figure out how to unlock the back of this camera to load film in it. I can't locate a user's manual, or much helpful info online, but the Science Museum Group said that "ody release interlocked with wind on knob". Not quite sure if that refers to the way one has to unlock and open the back of the camera or something else. I have tried to unlock and open it with no success and don't want to force something and break it, and no You Tube video to help.
I would appreciate all the help anyone can offer.
MONTANUS MONTANA 35mm. Deltamon Anastigmat 1:3.5/45mm.
Thanks

Since there are no other obvious options (based on photos of this camera), I suspect that you should pull the wind on knob upwards. I have many cameras that open this way, but usually on the rewind knob, not the advance knob.

If pulling up the rewind knob does not work, I would bet on something in the camera side, the one opposite the hinges. Could you possibly post a photo from that side?

There are some photos of the sides of a Montana and of it open on ebay listing 165378950950. On the end opposite the hinge there is a rectangular housing the height of the camera. There are two half moon openings on the face of the housing. Inside these openings appears to be something like a hinge or catches?
If that housing does not slide up or down then as there does not appear to be any other tab there to open a catch so, as said, I would assume that you pull the wind-on knob up (on that side) fully.

In the referred ebay listing, it seems that you either push those two black buttons (?) in the catch, or just push out the front edge of the metal catch, or both actions at the same time. There are two lips on the edge of the camera body that are related to those black buttons, and obviously help to secure the hinged back closed.
My guess is to push those two buttons and something will happen. Springs may be hard, so push with gusto.
