I got this very tidy, fully working Olympus from a charity shop yesterday for £20. Even the leather case is good. It's a lovely camera, very advanced for its day ( 1969 to 1976 ) with center weighted and spot metering, and aperture priority as well as manual operation. All it needs is some light seals and it's good to go!

I'm on the hunt for a crappy old TLR for just this reason. I followed a guy on flickr who was just terrific at viewfinder pictures. I'll have a look for a link. www.flickr.com/photos/friendlyjoefound it,

Seasons greetings to you all, I hope you've all had a good day with family and friends. I certainly have, but it's nice to be home tonight. I've drunk loads of my brother in laws beer and wine, played with various kids, eaten way too much, and enjoyed every minute of it.

That's an interesting process, I like the results of that. I guess the tonality is greater than a Photoshop manipulation to achieve the same, or at least similar, effect?

Yes, they are very good cameras, I've had a CE 5 for a long time - but no autofocus lenses for it - which I use sometimes. I like my old Pentax's a lot, but the Chinons do give an 'industrial feel' to photography, like the Zenit's you can hammer nails in with them.

I went to one of the charity shops that I check + value cameras for today as they had a big boxful of stuff to sort out. I threw about 12 compacts in the skip - cheap APS and crappy stuff. Also, 3 cheap flash's and an OM motordrive with badly leaking batteries, way beyond sensible repairs. But I did come home with a very nice Chinon CE4-s, 50 / 1.7, 35-100 / 3.5 and motordrive for a very reasonable donation of £10 to the local hospice. They were happy, and so was I.

If you like your Tamrons I'd recommend the Tamron SP Z-220. 70-220 / 3.8 constant aperture, and it has a tripod mount. It's a bit smaller than the Tamron CT300 but heavier. The Z-220 IS 1029g and the CT300 818g. It is a very good lens though. Also there is the smaller and lighter - 695g - Tamron QZ 210, a 85-210 / 4.5 lens, it's a stop slower, constant aperture again, but has no tripod mount. Optically it is a very good lens, although prone to CA / fringing. The other good choice is the Vivitar Series 1 70-210 / 2.8-4 which weighs 872g, sadly has no tripod mount, and is a one touch zoom, both Tamrons are two ring zooms. I'd rate the Vivitar as the best optically. Search for one with 28***** serial number made by Komine, they are probably the best. Some people think they are expensive, but they aren't. There were a lot sold so there's plenty around. Is it better than the Tamron ? Maybe....but the 70-220 Tamron is optically so close the difference is barely noticeable. It's 220 grams heavier, it has a tripod mount. If it's bright and sunny I take the Vivitar, if it's gloomy I take the Tamron and a Benbo tripod. I need a Sherpa. allphotolenses.com/lenses/systems/c_59/p_1.htmlthere's a lot of Tamrons ( and other lenses )listed here, and most have the Tamron model number listed. It's just a shame Tamron didn't put the model number on all their lenses!

Randy! Count me in!! I've got a Fuji Finepix that I use for 99% of my shots. I love it!! I use it for ttv photos as well, like this one, taken through the viewfinder of an Anscoflex II It's an S5200 5.1 mega pixel. I've done prints up to 11X14 and they come out just fine Doug, I've joined the darkside, they gave me cookies I've just read this thread again - and noticed you're doing TTV pictures which I love, and I'd really like to see some more.

Some good equipment there, Dave. It's a shame I don't need any of it! Yeah you do, you know you do. The Rokkor zoom is the star of the show, it's just superb, it's the lens I'll rescue when the house is on fire. the Soligor 400 is a sleeper, I've got two and have had some good results from them. It's a lot of lens for the money because I'm open to offers on this stuff and that actually owes me very little. I've got to get rid of some of this stuff, I have lenses in boxes that my wife doesn't know about. I value my life.

I've just skype'd with my brother who lives in Nova Scotia, it's snowing like hell and the wind chill takes the temp' down to -37, and he's just setting off to drive to Prince Edward Island to see his son - in a Honda Civic!...... I hope, for his sake, he is wise enough to check if the Confederation Bridge is still open for traffic. It often must shut down in foul weather. I certainly would not want to be on it in s strong crosswind and the snow could freeze on the pavement. Skype him and tell him to stay home. That way he will be certain of seeing his son again. Mickey He arrived with no problem at all, he uses the ferry as well as it's less driving and operates until the sea freezes, and they close the Confederation Bridge in real bad weather. I guess driving in those conditions is something you get used to, and winter tyres make a difference.

I am selling this for a friend who was a photography student many years ago and she hasn't used it since.
Canon A1, in excellent condition. I have fitted new light seals, mirror bumper, and cured the squeal - which was very slight. Everything works as it should and there is no wear on the film plate or major marks on the outside. It has a scruffy half case that has been on it since new, and the original instruction book.
The lens is a good 50 / 1.8 with no fungus, oil on the blades, or excessive dust. The glass has no cleaning marks or scratches and the filter ring has no dents.
There is a Vivitar 135 / 2.8 with a 28****** serial number - Komine. This lens is perfect, she tried it once and never fitted it to the camera again. Sadly there is no original box but both caps are with it.
With this lens is an unused Vivitar X2 Teleconverter in its case, and again in perfect condition.
There is also a Metz Mecablitz 36 CTZ, which is in good order and although the battery terminals were not attacked by battery acid I have cleaned them.
There are some accessories, a set of Cokin A Series filters with 52mm ring, holder and lens hood. Filters - blue, red, gradual fog, orange, yellow, star and galaxy. Flash bracket, 52mm rubber lens hood, body cap and a vintage small folding tripod.
I'm looking for sensible offers on this kit. It's a lovely classic camera that is very useable.

I've got to make room for the new stuff, so something has to go!
All these lenses are in very tidy cosmetic condition, I try not to buy lenses that are knocked about, and I'm careful with them when I use them. None of these lenses have any faults that I know of, I have used them all and if they had any optical or mechanical fault that I could see then I wouldn't sell them. Every lens will be packaged carefully and sent 'Tracked' - postage is additional to the lens price. It is difficult to set a price for many of these lenses, so I will negotiate - make me an offer!
SOLD Soligor 400 / 6.3 T2 / M42 mount. Complete with tripod foot, OEM caps. Very good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £30
SOLD Super Paragon 28 / 2.8 ( Cimko ) M42. Very good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £20
SOLD Vivitar 28 / 2.8 ( Komine ) M42. Very slight fungus around the edge of the front element, you need a magnifying glass to see it and it doesn't affect picture quality. Otherwise very good condition. No haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £15
Vivitar 28 - 200 / 3.5 - 5.3 zoom. ( Kobori ) Pentax PK / A ( Was Ricoh but the pin and shroud have been modified ) Good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £20
Hoya 28 / 2.8 Canon FD Breechlock. Very good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £20
Minolta Rokkor MD 35 - 70 / 3.5 Macro zoom. Very good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. OEM Hood and caps. A great lens in first class condition. This lens was also sold as a Leica lens, and it is a genuinely great lens £60
Tokina 28 / 2.8 Olympus OM. Very good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £20
Kenlock McTor 80 - 205 / 3.9 Olympus OM. An old style zoom, all metal and well made. I'm pretty sure the lens is Multi Coated. Good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £18
Miranda MC Macro zoom. 70 - 210 / 4.5 - 5.6. Olympus OM. Very good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents scratches, no cleaning marks. £20
Tokina SD 35 - 200 / 4.5 - 5.6 Minolta MD. Very good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents scratches, no cleaning marks. £25
Vivitar 35 - 70 / 3.5 ( Komine ) Some fungus, but it is slight and the lens has been stored in a dry light place and it hasn't spread at all in the 2 years I've had the lens, it still takes very good pictures. Otherwise it is in very good condition with no haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £15
Auto Steinheill 100 - 300 / 5.6 Canon FD Breechlock. Another old style, all metal zoom. Multi Coated optics. Good condition with no haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. £20
Film kit. Complete in fitted Praktica case. Zenit E. The camera is in good condition for its age, 1972 - 1984, I think this has been a much loved and very well looked after camera. I have used the camera, although it was a few years ago, but today I have run a dead film through it and all the speeds seem to work, the film winds on, and rewinds OK. There are no dents in the camera, no scratches other than normal wear, the all black paint is very good with minimal brassing on the corners of the prism. The covering is all glued down firmly. The light seals look good as does the film pressure plate. The only fault is the tiny clear plastic cover over the light meter display is missing, NOT the front cover over the sensor. This could be easily replaced with the top cover removed. The light meter works fine without this clear cover. Helios 44-2. 55 / 2. Decent condition, the body has some paint wear where it has rubbed inside the case. The aperture blades are free, the optics are free of fungus but there are slight cleaning marks on the front element. I tested it against a perfect 44-2 and I can't see any degradation of the image quality. It has no dents or scratches. Prinzflex Auto 200 / 3.5. Silver finish. I think this lens is made by SUN, but I'm not certain. It has caps and hood. Very good condition. No fungus, haze or oil. No dents or scratches, no cleaning marks. M42 Extention Tubes. 11mm, 22.5mm & 20mm. Prinz Jupiter flash. A small, basic, flash that will work fine on the Zenit. It does have high voltage so do not use it on your modern electronic cameras! And there might be some other stuff that I can cram into the bag. The bag is 240 x 240 x 120mm and weighs 2565g without the packaging, so posting this kit halfway around the World might not be worthwhile. I will check all the alternative postal costs for anyone interested. How much is this lot worth? It's hard to say, but I'll argue at about £60 plus postage.
Please feel free to ask me any questions you might have. Dave.

I haunt our local charity shops, and for a lot of them I repair and value cameras so they can sell them ( that way I get first choice ) I was in one a few days ago that I don't help out and go to infrequently and asked if the had any cameras? They had. On offer was a horrible no name short zoom from the 80's with fungus and a bent filter ring for £40, then came a truly disgusting Tokina 70-210 or something similar, the rubber grip was torn and I've had steaks with less mushrooms than were inside this lens, it was bin fodder but the price was £48. I suppose the word 'Pro' on the front ring made it worth more? Then, the lady passed me a ratty old camera bag full of stuff. Inside was a perfect Canon A1 with a perfect Tamron 28 / 2.8 ( a very good lens ) a Speedlite 188A, and a Hoya 135mm - and a bunch of filters and junk. The price for the whole kit? £50 I damn nearly bought it, but I can't sell the Canon A1 I've already got for sale at the same price! I really don't need another one...

I drive a Toyota Landcruiser here in the UK and we don't get that kind of weather. I guess it's something you get used to and just deal with. If I was him, I'd stay at home and turn the stereo up, with a warming single malt in hand.
