Hello: Everything can be repaired, restored or rebuilt. It's just a matter of efford and money. Here is a page of somebody who did a repair on a Zenit-4 dehk.wordpress.com/2010/10/26/idiots-guide-to-repair-a-zenit-4/Maybe I shoold have a look again, or ask my repairshop in Vienna. When I got this camera, I got it with the info that it was at a repairshop allready more than once. After that it worked for a short time and failed again. I then did some "repairs" myself. It worked for half a roll of a film, then failed again. Interesting on mine is the combination of the Zenit-4 with the Rubin-1 as a set. The person who gave it to me bought it new back then for his father in Vienna. All 3 models Zenit 4,5,6 have been produced between 64 and 68. The Zenit 5 was a motor driven version of the 4. The 6 was identical to the 4, except the name plate. It's said that it's like a rule, that export cameras come with strap lugs, but not always indeed as you can ee on mine. Maybe none of the 64/65 models did have strap lugs? Maybe they ran out of 6 name plates or bodies when they put together the set I have now. There are too less of these models around to tell what was really original. There is a Zenit-4 at ebay right now for a huge price, Item 181984345199 Export version from 65, no flash shoe on the prisma, mine has. Hannes

While searching for images from the Zenit 4 a found this one for M like Mir a budget version of the Zorki 4 The Mir lacks the low speeds and is said to be not so proon for broken shutters. At least for mine this is not true. My Mir has a broken shutter while all Zorki 4 and 6 I own and the Fed 1 and Zenit 3, and 3M have working shutters. Ok low speeds on some of them hang. The Zenit 4 (5 and 6) are wonderful cameras. Especially when fitted with the mighty Rubin 1 Zoom lens. These Zenit are very close to the Bessamatic, rumors say that Bessamatic lenses fit but that's not true. Information about the Zenit 4 is rare. This is one of the best sites about all FSU cameras www.sovietcams.com/index.php?-1568052997Here are some images from my Zenit 4 set from 1965. I got this from a friend many years ago. The shutter is broken, but the set is complete. Interesting fact is that this combination Zenit-4 with Rubin-1 seems not to be official. All information I found is that theses sets have been with Zenit-6. Black leather case for Zenit Set by Johannes Hromadka, auf Flickr

H for HromTec 126 3D camera. This is a protoype I built in February 1982 basd on 2 cheap 126 plastic cameras. I shot some rolls / casettes during 1982 but then also built a mirror beam splilter for my Zorki 4. Years later I got a FED stereo and also a Loreo 3D. As I cannot throgh away anything technical I still have the camera, and also the beamsplilter. X-700 from Minolta, This one had a hard live with not much care, just used for many years. Then my brother in law gave it to me. He was often on the beach, you feel it when focusing 8-( The camera is working except the frame counter. I do not use it often, I prefer the XD-7. Today I was out in the cold to shoot the first roll of film with my new F3. I like the sound of the shutter and the smooth winding. But on the other hand I like the OM-2n too. I also started a flash shooting out between the two professionals and two modern Nikons, a F90X and D300. My new toys: Nikon F90x, F3 with SB-17 flash and Nikkor AF 35-70 f2.8. The F3 has a 161xxxxx number. If I read the lists in the internet right it is from june 1983. Everything works, I will run films through them during the next week. The AF Nikkor is also a fine lens on the D300. After a long time I got the film with the shots with Jupiter 36B back from the lab. The lens is a wonderful lens with very short DOF when open. It's is not easy to get the image in focus, and you have to use a tripod. But this film shows me that I have a problem with the magazine or the way I mounted the magazine to the body. There are extreme light leaks fro 3 sides. Not allways that bad, but allmost on all frames of this roll. Strange is that I shot allready a roll with this film back and did not have that problem. What do you think, where did the light leak in? On the slot for the dark slide? Also due to poor mounting betwenn film back and camera body?
