(To) many nikon lenses

The moment has come i really can't remember wich (nikon) lenses i've got as they are scattered all over the place. Some of them i use on a daily base others somewhat less and some more wich have become collection items. I've now rounded the majority off them up (that is the ones wich aren't on the camera's in the collection) and i'm gonna catalogue them in an exell file so i know what's here and what not.

I have my collection listed in three spreadsheets - one for cameras, one for lenses, and one for everything else.

I took the time to create these listings because, like you, I sometimes couldn't remember exactly what I already owned. Several times I bought something I already had, or didn't buy something I thought I had, but didn't. I have these listings on my phone, so they're with me whenever I'm shopping.

Exactly what happened to me on different occasions.

So far i made a complete list (well allmost complete😉) of my Pentax gear as there are so many variations of the early screw mount types i really can't remember or tell them apart. With pentax i haven't got the lens problem though as i've got only a few lenses wich aren't on a body and the bodies are catalogued with the lens wich is mounted. With Nikon on the other hand it is (for me) somewhat simpeler as i do know what i've got camera wise, only the lenses are becoming to much for me to remember. maybe it is old age, but on recent assignements i noticed afterwards i took a lens wich was less suited just because i forgot the right one was on the shelve. So today i'm making a hand written inventory of what is here so later on it can made in to an exell sheet wich can easely be adapted in case materials are sold or new additions come in. When all that is finished i guess i will have to have a good look at the Canons...

Guess i'll have to add enough cells to enter all the serialnumbers of this bunch🙄

That sounds like a good plan to keep track of your Nikon lenses!
