Zeiss planar 50 1:1.4 Yashica ML 50 1:1.4 I've got both these lenses in C/Y mount, put them on the Nikon Z with the apropriate adapter to see how they compare. Zeiss on the left Yashica right. The Zeiss reds seem to be somewhat brigther, while the Yashica greens are greener? ![](https://i.ibb.co/0CQMt7J/SZ6-7591x.jpg) The "bokeh" of the Zeiss is softer, allso note the darker greens from the yashica ![](https://i.ibb.co/1Xy57g2/SZ6-7592x.jpg) I didn't check for critical sharpness but at 1:1.4 both these lenses differ very little maybe the Zeiss being a little sharper? So these lenses do differ if you want to spend about 3 times as much on the Zeiss that's for you to decide. This is only a brief test and more elaborate testing may reveal further differences, but as far as i am concerned i wouldn't worry using one or the other it's not like one is much better or worse. Further more i have to admit that over the years of using many different lenses i've had only a few wich weren't any good and choosing one over another becomes more of a question wich look you're going for (and how much money you're willing to spend).

I bought an M42 version of the Yashica lens recently - I haven't used it yet, but I've found that it won't mount on an L series Praktica. The camera's mirror touches the lens rear element.
