Not exactly "old" glass, but i took the (manual focus) samyang 35mm 1:1.4 mounted on the pentax K20D for a walk. This certainly isn't my daily set up but it came to prove you don't need the latest and greatest gear to get some decent results. Still manually focussing wide aperture lenses is some kind of a chalenge as focussing screens of dslr's aren't optimised for MF lenses. So the rule becomes you better take "one more" just to be shure.
