Hi everyone,
I've mentioned in previous posts that I'm becoming more and more impressed by the Yashica 230AF I got on eBay recently.
It has a 35 - 105mm AF zoom on it, with rather unimpressive aperture figures of 3.5 - 4.5 I can honestly say though, that the lens is bright as a button, and accepts light levels lower than my Eos 1000FN - or for that matter my Prakticas.
Put in a bid for a 'similar' camera - a 200AF this time, but it came with a set of lenses.
A 35-70mm lens, an AF 70-210mm Macro lens and an AF 50mm 1:1.8 lens.
If the zooms perform anything like the one I've got, I'll be delighted. And the 50mm is going to be a toe-to-toe with my Praktica Tessars - although (pre-judgement going on here !), I've never seen a standard lens that could get anywhere near a CZJ 1.8/50 for closest focus point. But at the end of the day, if it can focus better than my eyes, it's just won the contest!
Regards - John
ps - Someone told me Contax cameras of the same period had Contax bodies but the same interiors (ie electronics etc) as the Yashicas - any thoughts?
