I received the two most recent purchases on Ebay.
1. Mamiya/Sekor DSX 1000. The cosmetic is in beautiful shape and with just a small amount of buffing now appears like 'new'. Everything mechanically seems to work OK. The only problem with it...and I have the same problem with the DTL 1000 I bought awhile back to replace the one I dropped in the river...the viewfinder is green. In bright light this is minimally distracting if I set my mind to believe such, but in lower light situations it makes focusing and composing a chore.
2. A more top-of-the-line Kodak APS...800 model...also in great shape. I do not care for APS but thought it to be a good addition to the Kodak realm of my collection as I have cameras of their various other film sizes.
Now...more to the point of this subject.
I QUIT...NO MORE EBAY PURCHASES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ron: Some of the TL and SX series Mamiyas were manufactured with what amounts to a protective plastic cover over the top of the prism housing. I think it was intended to prevent scuffing and scratching from the metal retainer that held the prism in place. Over time, it is this plastic that darkens (sometimes turning a greenish hue) and you can see its effect in the viewfinder. Not sure that's what is going on in yours...but it is something I have seen from time-to-time, and your comment made me think about it. --------------- As to your resolution about eBay purchases...how many times have you made that one?

Mr. Herron,
Ah hum...
Are you trying to second guess my sincerity??? Well, you wascal...I have, in honesty, made that statement any number of times. However...this time...I AM CONFIDENT MY DECISION WILL PREVAIL!!! Hey, I am out of display space except I could add one camera to my Argus section.
I will only display in closed cabinets...ie., with glass doors...and I have been unable to find any additional ones in used or new stores...unless I pay a LOT.
So...

No more Ebay??? Now where have I heard that before, hmmm? My two glass display cases long ago overflowed to the chaos I have now. Good luck Ron, I'm rooting for you. Now how many more SLR's do I have coming in the mail, and I sure could use that one more Russian RF.

I've tried the "quit ebay" thing about a dozen times now. I was actually doing good until about a month ago when I spotted a Mamiya I wanted. After that, I lost my focus.
Personally, I enjoy going around and hitting the second hand stores more than looking online.

This recent experience I had with a Petri Rangefinder put a sour taste in my mouth also. It's the first time I've really gotten a sour grape. But the amount of money isn't worth the hassle of sending it back. People that say a camera works in their auction should be held accountable when the thing does'nt and actually falls apart in the buyer's hands though. I just didn't give the person any feedback. I don't cotton to liars and thieves.
