Hi everyone,
Well I've banged on for some time about these Yashica AF models - about how good they are really. But I went berserk and bid a ridiculous amount for a 400mm Sigma AF lens for them. Then I watched the bidding carefully. There were a bunch of bids - obviously from people who'd formed the same opinion as myself about this range of cameras, and then nothing until a day before the finish. Someone popped up and put up a bid that was pennies short of my valuation. My 'highest bidder' status held - but just by a whisker.
Then it's 'make your mind up time'. How much do I really want this piece of kit? I could have left it till the last minute and tried to 'snipe', but I banged in another bid to take me well over my 'best valuation' price. That had the effect of bumping up my current bid marginally to the nearest eBay bid graduation figure - pence again.
But that in turn had the effect of signalling to the world that I'd increased my bid and was determined. As it turned out, it worked - no more bids after that.
There are times for sniping (and to be honest, there have been times when I've overreached myself and been glad when I've been sniped in return). But sometimes a show of force can be enough.
Early days for the lens. Seems to be crystal clear andthe autofocus is almost instantaneous - but, I'll have to keep you posted.
Regards - John
