My Micro Nikkor arrived today. It's non ai but appears to be nearly mint. I will focus down close enough that I really don't thin I would have much use for the M2 closeup ring. Can't wait to see the first results.

Wayne, just when I thought I didn't need another Nikkor lens, you call my attention to one that may cause me to re-think my "needs"! I'm anxious to see the results you get. Walker

Brian:
I've got the 20mm f2.8 af Nikkor, 24mm f2.8 ai Nikkor, 35mm f2.8 ai Nikkor, 50mm f2 ai Nikkor, 55mm f3.5 micro Nikkor, 35-135mm af Nikkor and 300mm f4.5 Nikkor(the old one with the bright metal section, converted to ai.
Then, 28-85mm Kiron zoom, 35-85 f2.8 Vivitar (Kiron) zoom, 80-200 f2.8 Tokina Zoom, 80-200 f4 Kiron macro zoom and a 28mm Tokina f2.8 (because it was cheap) plus the Kiron 2x 7-element extender.
Can't bring myself to spending the bigger dollars for some of the ai and/or af Nikkors for what little improvement they would give me v. their prices.
Wish I still had the 45mm GN nikkor that was factory converted to ai. It was a sweet lens.

The 180 sounds good. I'm not that much of a fan of FAST normals, however. When I had a f1.4 I never used it--too heavy

> just when I thought I didn't need another Nikkor lens HA! Well, that is what I'm here for. Tell me which Nikkor lenses you already have, and I'll make the list of the ones you should get. Brian, I have the following Nikkor lenses that are AI: 24/2.8, 28/2.8, 35/2, 50/1.4, 85/2, 105/2.5, 135/2.8 and 200/4. I'm now looking out for a 55/3.5 AI Micro. I think I have most things covered but maybe I'm missing something? The 180 you suggested above sounds like a nice one to have. Too bad I can't adapt my 180/2.8 Sonnar to Nikon mount. Walker

Got back some negs from the Micro today. Will scan tonight. They look REAL crisp.

If you don't like heavy lenses stay away from the 180/2.8. OTH once you try one you will be hooked. Add a TC201 and you have a decent long lens.
Wayne
I am sure you won't be disappointed with the scans, just waiting to see them.

Here's some shots from the first roll with the 55mm Micro Nikkor. Wish I had had this lens 30 years ago! Nikon F body.

There's no doubt about its sharpness Wayne! Careful you don't cut your fingers with it!

Wayne
Yup, another fine performing Nikkor Micro. Looks like you will have a new favourite standard lens.
