I've liked the chunky look of the Minolta A-2 and finally found one on E-Bay. It came to fifteen bucks including shipping. The A-2 could be purchased with a 2.8 or 3.5 lens. Well, It's pretty but the winding lever can be operated endlessly and it will not cock the shutter and the rangefinder does not seem to be working. I don't see the focusing patch but the parrallax lines do change with the lens. Hopefully I can tinker with it to make it work. If not it's a pretty paperweight.

Randy,
I hope one day to have a Minolta-A too. Those legendary Rokkor lenses were highly respected.
You could send me yours,.....I'll be your buddy.
Is it marked Minolta A or does it actually have "A-1" on it?
I also like the one that looks like a Leica.

Dan
I hope you can get it to work. I think it would be worth a try. The only Minolta RF that I have is a Highmatic E and the lens on it rocks.

I took off the top of the Minolta A-2 and the winding shaft pulled right off with the top.
The shaft looks like it had a square lower end that is gone.
Hopefully I'll find a junker one day and get a replacement shaft.
All the Rangefinder parts seem to be in good shape but does not seem to be engaged with the lens. The Parrallax mirror does move with the lens focus.
I have two other A-2 deals cooking so I'm determined to get one in good shape.
Then I will look for a Minolta A.
