Think I mentioned that I'd bought a 300AF to complete my AF collection. The seller had mentioned that there was a small plastic cover missing from the camera. Yes - you've guessed - it was the baseplate of the camera.
If I ever get into a situation where I can dispay my cameras in barrister cases, it'll fill a gap, but as far as using it..... Some you lose!

John, the seller doesn't seem to have been any too forthright about what was missing. IMO, "small piece" doesn't exactly conjure up images of a baseplate. Have you tried to get the seller to take it back and give a full refund?

Walker - he took the line that it was untested - as seen. I couldn't be bothered, and gave him neutral feedback. I've found that they can never contest neutral feedback, and it's there on their record forever.
To console myself, I did some 'Best Offer' dealing, and bought a 1.6x auto-focussing tele-converter, a 35 - 105 macro lens and a Yashica AF specific flash unit. Those were all back-ups for ones I'd already got, but I got a 28mm lens, which is a new departure for me. I think they did an AF 24mm lens, but I've never seen one for sale.
The teleconverter is the best buy, as with an M42 adapter, you can put any M42 lens onto the camera and it becomes autofocussing. Just the job for these eyes! He accepted my 'Best Offer' of £30 (there are several eBay shops with these standing at £100).
Now I've settled on my preferred AF system, I seriously need to rationalise. First and foremost I love Prakticas, so I'll keep them, and the Konicas are such precision machines, so I'll have to keep them. Other than the rangefinders, the TLRs, the folders, the Exaktas, the Fujicas, the Minoltas (I found the SRT101 BTW), the Spotmatics and the Mamiyas, I can sell everything else. So I need to advertise the EOS and the Polaroid! (but the EOS isn't bad, and I may want to use the Polaroid sometime if there's a party.....)
