I have decided it is time to get my collection down to a manageable level. Among the items are two Mamiya 1000 DTLs.
Both cameras are in working condition and the meters seem to respond properly. One camera has the f1.8 lens and the other an f2--the f2 is in better cosmetic condition. One camera had the light seals replaced before I got it. One, I don't remember which, has a small switch for changing between metering modes and the other has a larger switch the protrudes more from the body. I don't know if the camera with the smaller switch was standard that way or if it originally had the larger knob and it has been lost.
I have never got around to shooting film with either but both seem to be functioning properly and the lenses are clear. Both cameras has a few minor scrapes -- they are "shooters."
If someone is genuinely interested in either or both cameras I can provide more specific deals. First offer gets to deside which camera a which lens.
Make me an offer. I'm primarily interested in getting them into the hands of someone who will use them.

WAYNE!!! I didn't hear that! Getting rid of Mamiya DTL's? I'm really upset. First, that you would get rid of them, and second, that you would tell me about it! Particularly when my wife is away and not able to admonish me to "get off that eBay site!" or "don't listen to any more camera offers, you have enough!" Get thee behind me..... LOL ;D

Ron: Figured I might get a response from you:)
The problem is I don't have time to use all the cameras I have and the Mamiyas are languishing in a cupboard--somebody should be using them. Besides, The camera I had new back in the late '60s was a 1000 TL not DTL so these cameras don't quite cut it from a nostalgic point of view either. I figured someone here might actually get out and use 'em.
Guess I'm an "enabler." -- hated by wives of camera buffs around the world.

Wayne,
Do your DTL's have that ugly, interferring green tint when you look thru the viewfinder???
Just curious as my 100DTL and my DXS100 both do.

Ron: Didn't notice a tint but I haven't really looked that close. I know the viewfinder aren't as bright as those in moden cameras.

Ron (Kamera): Sounds like you have cameras with those plastic (vinyl?) protectors that Mamiya put over the prism housings on a lot (but apparently not all...not sure where the demarcation line was) of their TL, DTL and SX series. They have a tendency (depending on environmental conditions) to discolor over time. It can make for an obnoxious tint in the viewfinder, but does not affect picture quality. Kinda like the dust specks that show up in there sometimes, too. Annoying, but not interfering.
