Anyone know of a good source for a 21-28mm lens with a 39mm (Leica) thread mount? Not looking for a Leica lens (my budget could never handle it), but need that thread mount. Seems I've succumbed to another "impulse" and purchased a Voigtlander Bessa L camera body from Stephen Gandy. It was only after I sent the payment that I realized the only 39mm-mount lenses I have are 50mm Jupiters! (I know it's not a Mamiya, but I won't tell my other cameras, if you won't ) Since this camera has NO rangefinder, it works best with the wider field of view (and depth of field) lenses. See what all this collecting impulse gets us into?!

Voigtlander 25/4 is perfect for the L cameraquest with the finder for 240 or somewhere around there. I had this lens on my L

The Voigtlander lenses are probably the only 20-28mm M39 lens that are halfway affordable.

I agree with the CV lens recommendations. The CV 25/4 is the least expensive, super sharp and a perfect fit for the Bessa L.

With the L, I like the CV 21/4 even better. When I go wide, I like to go really wide Gene

Thanks for the responses, everyone! From what I've seen, the CV lenses are indeed the way to go, and I like the 25/4. But I overshot my budget long before I succumbed to the Bessa L, and couldn't really afford to buy it, so I'm just going to have to wait for the proper lens...or see if I can't find one used somewhere.......... Until that time, I will have to use it with my 50mm Jupiter .... and dream.....(sigh) Again...why do I do this to myself? I didn't need another camera at all!

I know there are converter mounts to put an M39 lens into an M42 camera mount . . . but I wonder if there is one going the other way?

A-a-a-a-r-r-r-r-g-g-g-g-h-h-h!!!!! A reprieve from my collecting madness...of sorts. Stephen Gandy just emailed me to say the Bessa L had sold out while he was at Photokina! It was only a temporary reprieve. Would you believe I asked him if he still had any Bessa R's available? Somebody, please, put a brick on my typing fingers, disconnect my internet access, and duct tape my phone to the wall! I'm sure this acquisiton madness will pass, if I just give it time!

I'm sure you're right, Brian...but that's not helping me. Helping is talking me out of it in the first place! I already have more than 150 cameras in the collection, and I really DON'T need another one (except the two Mamiya that I'm still looking for) -- so, I need to be talked OUT of it.
Tell me what a fool I am to even be looking at another camera, let alone buying one!
LOLOL! ;D

OK Ron....
that means you should grab the Kiev 4A............since mentally you already have increased your collection to that number.

Photo Village may have a couple Bessa Ls hanging around. Think there are a few floating around on ebay too currently.
Give in Ron, resistance is futile.

-- so, I need to be talked OUT of it. So, trying to use reverse psychology on us to talk you into what has to be one of the best bargains in coupled RF cameras on the market today! Buy the Kiev and the Bessa. What a wicked streak you have, Brian, Bob and Rover! I just bought Bob's Zenit TTL...am inches from buying the Bessa-R (after S. Gandy sold the last of his Bessa L's)...rover is telling me where there are Bessa L's on eBay, and Bob is urging me to get the Kiev-4 I passed on.......... I don't actually NEED any of them, and this group, out of everybody I know, should understand the compulsion to acquire just one more! I'm doomed.
