I'm interested in old box cameras or folders. Also I would like to have a large format camera which is one style I don't have yet, something that you can still buy film for like a Graflex. If anyone here has anything that they don't want anymore or something that doesn't work or just something that's not to far from being a piece of junk along the lines of a box , folder or large format. I have heard to many people here say they have to many cameras or they have ones they haven't used in years. I can make them feel wanted again, LOL. Let me know maybe we can work something out.

majicman,
I have some Photo-See cameras along with their developing tanks, instruction books and the two boxes. The boxes are intact but not as new. The cameras and tanks although never used show traces of rust from having been stored in a damp environment. They cannot be used today as they required a special film, something I have never seen if any exists today. Shutter is instant and time. Three aperture settings. Focus is by turning a device at the rear of the camera which moves the entire interior back to and fro. Peculiar viewfinder which appears to be mounted backwards but is that way on all Photo-See's I have seen. See page 784 in McKeowns 12th edition.

I tried to find page 784 in McKeowns 12th edition but could not find it without buying the book. When you say Photo-see cameras is this the same as A View camera? Who makes the cameras? and are you wanting to part with them? if so I have some cameras we could trade if you are interested.

majicman.
"is this the same as A View camera?" Nowhere near as elegant. It is a simple box camera made of metal, bakelite and cardboard. It was sold with its own separate portable developing tank. "Seven to eight minutes after the photograph is taken the picture can be finished." It measures 4"high x 3-3/4" deep x 3" wide. There is some moisture damage. I have never seen one without that damage. There must have been a quantity of unsold ones that were stored in damp conditions. But they do work.
"Who makes the cameras?" It was made by Photo-See Corp. New York City about 1936 for a short period of time. It could hardly be termed a smashing success.
"are you wanting to part with them?" I have seven complete sets and only want to retain two. McKeown's lists them at U.S. $35 to $50. I am asking $25 or a trade. I have never sold or traded anything on the internet so I am not sure how it would work. I have no PayPal account.

would you be able to post a picture of this camera? I tried to find a link on line so I could see what it looks like but I didn't have any luck. do you know of a web site that has a picture of this camera? Or if you have McKeowns 12th edition maybe a scan of that page. If I could see a picture or a web page link so I could check out this camera. It sounds like something interesting to add to my collection and if I like it I'll just send the $25 in a money order.

majicman & Mickey: This is the info on page 784: www.mamiya35collectors.com/PHOTO SEE.jpg[/img] The missing text reads... "...the box, with developing tank, and always with traces of rust from storage in a damp area. USA: $35-50. I hope that helps.

Thanks a lot, it did help. I just couldn't find a site on the net. I wanted to read about it. I enjoy the history behind photography.
