Hi everyone...
Looking for a manual for a Yashica 200AF
Seen dozens and dozens of 200AF cameras go by on eBay, but never one with a manual. Not on Butkus either. Anyone got one in a cupboard somewhere?
(I know it's similar to the 230AF, but I need to know how it's different!)
Thanks - Regards - John

Have you looked online at Craig Camera? www.craigcamera.comJohn's prices can sometimes be a little much, but if doesn't have one, I'm not sure who would!

John, You might try www.orphancameras.com (I think this is Butkus) The 200AF has shutter speeds of 8 - 2000. It came with a 50mm f1.8 lens. The 230Af " " " " 16 - 2000. It could be prchased without a lens or with a 28 - 85mm f3.5 - f4.5 lens. Mickey

Hi Mickey,
Thanks for that. Yes Mr Butkus lists the 200AF, but there's no link to a manual unfortunately. You'd think someone would have one on the Yashica sites, but no-one's replying if they have.
I've got a selection of zooms now, plus the Y/C 50mm and a Sigma 400mm prime. Looking out for a nice wide angle, but they are very thin on the ground.
Also got myself a 270AF last week, which looks suspiciously like the 200 but with a streamlined case. That one's faulty though. First click on the shutter release button performs auto-focus and sets the aperture (on auto), but second pressure doesn't fire the shutter. Not too much wrong though, because the shutter fires perfectly with a remote release cable. May just be a quick solder job, if I can find out how to remove the top cover !

Hi John I guess you have checked with this guy in ebay.co.uk ? He seems to be able to dig up something new all the time. Fast delivery and reasonable prices. He has at least one for the 230AF at the moment. I have bought a ccouple from him and the quality is as described. he is "just round the corner" from you stores.ebay.co.uk/Axiom-Photographic

I think I have the manual for my Yashica 230AF. I can copy it for you if that is any help.

Thanks Bob
No - I'm fine with the 230AF (which is mainly intuitive). The 200AF (and the 270AF) don't have an LCD screen and everything is done using symbols in the viewfinder, which are a bit obscure. The rolls I shot with the 200 and 270 (both of which are really backups for my two 230 AF's) came out OK - I just wanted some guidance on the finer points.

Finally! Just won a 200AF manual on eBay. That's the first I've ever seen on there, and there were several other bidders, so others have obviously had the same problem. May scan it and sell the scans to the other bidders to cover the price!
The 200 is nice, but doesn't have the autofocussing precision of the 230AF. On quite a few shots I find the background is perfectly focussed while the subject is blurred. Must remember to double check that it's picked up the subject!

Glad you got your copy of the 200AF manual finally. You mentioned looking for a wide angle. I think you would find the Yashica 28/2.8 AF a very nice lens, I have. The tele converter that allows you to use Yashica/Contax MF mount lenses on the Yashica AF bodies also works well.
