I'd like to expand my M42 lens kit a bit. I have a Mamiya DTL 1000 body, and nice 55mm and 135mm lenses for it, but would like something in the WA dept. I like 28mm. Anyone have a spare or gathering-dust Super-Tak or equivalent they'd like to unload?

Gene,
I too like 28mm, keep your eyes open for a Prinzflex Auto Reflex 28/2.8 on eBay. or in your local shops. Not a renowned lens maker, but they got that one bang-on.
Another one to look out for is a Flektogon (Carl Zeiss Jena). I haven't found one that I was prepared to pay the price for over here, but I mention it because I think they may be much cheaper over there. They made 20, 25 & 35mm though, not the 28 AFAIK.

Thanks John. I had a look for Prinzflex and Flektogon lenses but didn't turn up much on eBay. I'll keep them in mind though.
Randy, Monkey Ward offered its own 28mm M42 lenses?? Amazing. I wonder who made them? Anyway I'll send you a PM.

Gene, Pentacon made a 29mm f/2.8 lens in M42 mount. The later ones were multi-coated and some were "Electric", having the contacts for the open metering Praktica cameras. They're well made lenses.
But, have you checked ebay? Takumar, Yashinon, Rikenon, Sears and others sold 28mm M42 lenses worth having and there are lots of Takumars (Super and SMC versions) lately. Ebay prices lately seem to have gone down some too.

Thanks Walker. I've got a few 28mm's in my eBay Watch List. My first preference is Tak or Super-Tak because I like their silky smooth focusing, but I'll be happy with anything that's a good optic.

Thanks to Randy I have a Montgomery Ward (possibly Cosina) M42 28mm lens on its way. My entire M42 system is a CC assembly. Mamiya 1000 DTL and 55mm lens from Wayne, CZJ 135mm lens from Peter, and now a 28mm lens from Randy. Is this a cool forum or what? The only thing that didn't come from here was a 55/1.8 Super-Tak I picked up for it on Nelsonphoto and I got that because I once owned one and it was one of the best 50mm-ish lenses I've ever used. I went from no M42-mount systems to a really snazzy one in no time! Thanks everyone!
