Just arrived today. New in box body. I hung one of my lenses on it. Tomorrow I'll try to get it all setup and ready to shoot. I thought I was lousy with film. This ought to really show my flaws.

Cool camera G'man. And very wise choice of Pentax, not that I'm a Pentax nut or anything, LOL.

I've got the Pentax *ist DL2 and am very pleased with it. I was very suprised at the results. Have a look at www.johnwallage.com and have a look at the Photo section. John

Well the gods are having a field day with me. Must be punishment for going digital. The manual is a PITA. I think I need to find a 5 year old to get it setup. I've managed to get the date and time set. Now for more Irish coffee.

Nice camera, Greyhoundman!
In a comparison I saw recently between the Nikon D80 and the Pentax, they rated tops.
Afraid that when I do make the 'big' leap beyond my Phillips Keychain Digital, it will have to be Nikon as I have several lenses already that I can use on it.

Fully understand. I chose the DS because of the many lenses I already had. Plus a love of Pentax cameras.

Sure I just make sure they don't ever make it to the web ;D Dave, I wish mnay times I had waited and bought the *ist when it came out. I had gotten mad, at Canon, back in '86 when they dropped the FD mount and had been using an LX and an ME Super with many SMC lenses, even had the 600 f4. I just could not come up with the money for the *ist so I bought the DREb thinking I could adapt my FD lenses, This was before I learned to use the internet for research. Long story short, I sold the LX, ME and all the lenses to buy some EF mount Canon stuff. Still regrett it.

I've shot Pentax as my main SLR for 20+ years. I have been wanting to try digital, but cash flow was a little slow. I finally was able to have the cash when a deal became available. It was a no brainer, since I already had so many Pentax lenses. Now I have to learn something new. I will say it's easier to use than my DVD player. LOL
