Got my Nikkor 18-70mm DX ED zoom yesterday. I had heard it is a great lens but didn't realize how much better it is than my Promaster--sharper and great contrast. This lens came out, I think, as a "kit lens" for the D70 but is much better built than kit lenses for later models. Wish I had had it for our trip. This quick shot is at about 18mm (the photo was cropped somewhat from the left side so it's not full view). I don't think I'll be taking it off the camera much. BTW, I'm usually behine the second glass block window from the left.

It is a great lens although it is really a "kit lens". I'm glad, that you like your combination. I bought my DSLR Olympus E-500 Evolt two lens kit more than a year ago in USA and I am also satisfied esp. the 40-150 tele zoom is excellent value for money.
I see, that the The Stars and Stripes is at half-mast. I cannot see the exif of the picture but I know, that it is new. I express my sympathy for the tragedy in Virginia.
