Not all your photographs have to be of stunning landscapes or gripping action shots. Sometimes it's nice to relax, take your time, and just take something that catches your eye..... Logs on chiminea stand Fungus # Fruitbowl Let's see some more still lifes - you can put them in general photography if you don't want feedback. Regards - John

Coke, Burger, and Fries...where were you in '62? I was 14. In September '62 I was just entering high school, getting deep into freshman sports, and dreaming of owning a yellow roadster like the model you show (or a Corvette, whichever I could get first), so I could drive around with Karen Jackola, the prettiest girl in the 9th grade -- as soon as I had a driver's license, that is! (I didn't meet Mary Lu, my eventual wife -- and the prettiest girl on the planet -- until I was a junior...she went to a different school ) BTW - John , I really like the mushrooms! ;D

Well, if it was November of 62, I was in my 9th grade Algebra class when the annoucement came over the intercom that President Kennedy had been shot...

At school - burger was out of the question, but 'cow-pie' (steak and kidney) and duff pudding was often on the menu. As a kid, Coca-Cola never happened - it just never was something that anyone ever thought of buying. My first experience of it was at school - from the Tuck-Shop! I can remember thinking that it was delicious. What's happened since? Because it certainly tastes nothing like that first experience any more! (I know taste buds become jaded, but sorry - it's a different drink!)
Ron - you called them mushrooms, and I suspect they were, but you can never be sure here - so many that look almost identical are toadstools, which if not actively poisonous can make you quite ill for a day or two.
We have mushrooms in our front garden. Actually they are chanterelles, which are the best tasting mushroom in the world. But, because they aren't from a shelf in the supermarket, my wife won't allow them in the house. There is a little story to this. Most chefs would cheerfully kill somebody to get hold of chanterelles, but you can't buy them in the UK unless they are imported from abroad. The reason for this is that it's illegal to sell wild mushrooms. You can sell 'domesticated' ones, grown under controlled conditions, but wild ones - no. Chanterelles can't be grown under controlled conditions - they only ever grow under birch trees (they're a symbiote). We have a weeping birch in our front garden. So our situation is that you can legally import them from France (where there is no restriction on selling wild mushrooms). And if we ever see any in our supermarkets - not likely, my wife will cheerfully buy them. But she won't step outside the front door and pick a heaven-sent gift.
C'est la vie!
Regards - John

Randy is that Milner's piss yellow deuce coupe? ;D a true American Graffitti fan Bob Yes Sir! THX1138 on the plate! I own another with Paul LeMatt's personal autograph on the roof. I was 11 years old in 1962 and my favorite album was Dick Dale and his Hot Rod Wails.
