This is a really striking picture, John. I also like the first one of your clematis shots.
What lighting did you use for the fern, and what was the camera for both shots?

Thanks
Praktica MTL50 with Pentacon 1.8 50mm lens. Fuji Superia 200.
The light is full sun. My wife had been hacking at my 'weeds' (the foxgloves and nettles also got it), and I noticed the spores on the fern. Laid it across the fence top in full sun, but the neighbour's black dustbin was the backdrop, and that was in full shade. I was afraid that the combination would screw up the exposure reading in the same way as the dark sky does for a shot of the moon, so I opened the lens a little more than the indicated reading and luckily it worked.

John, I really like this. The composition is spot on and the lighting is luminous. Love the black bg too. Beautiful work!
