Hi all, I do love this camera. Feel, sound, weight. I like it so much more than the completely working shiny new Lynx 14 I just got.
From looking around the loose barrel is a common problem, and it ruins the shooting. In my case I have to hold it tight to the body (hee hee) and focus on infinity. Then it will cock right.
So I think I can actually shoot with, if I remember to the do what I wrote.
Has any one pulled any of these apart ?? Seems like the Petri 7 and 7s are sleeper cameras that will show their value down the road.
I wanna go and shoot with it.

I used one some years ago. Not a bad camera. Mine made a very loud, funny clunk when I advanced the film. The insides of the shutter and advance mechanisms are quite similar to other Japanese RF cameras of the period, nothing unusual or complicated.
Did you try tightening the ring nut that holds the shutter assembly from the back?

Mine made a very loud, funny clunk when I advanced the film. The insides of the shutter and advance mechanisms are quite similar to other Japanese RF cameras of the period, nothing unusual or complicated. That clunk means it is connecting. When it doesn't clunk, it isn't connecting. Did you try tightening the ring nut that holds the shutter assembly from the back? I have not taken it apart yet. I am looking for another one at the moment as an option. The selenium is still good in the meter as I mentioned, making it a good parts camera. I am thinking selenium goes bad when it is exposed to light. The advantage of the circle-lens arrangement is that the lens cover keeps it dark. The advantage of selenium is that there are no rare batteries. Just about everybody that had one liked it. Crazy got me to get one, but now he seems to have forgotten how to send a email.

I have the same camera & the lens feels a bit loose also but I don't have any shutter troubles. The meter works but is about 1/2stop off.
