Using a tip I read online, I used fabric paint to repair pinholes. Camera is a Perfex Fifty Five. Pinholes were on the second curtain. Paint was Jacguard Textile Color #122 black. It took a few coats with a very soft, wide brush. So far it seems to have worked. We'll see what happens after a couple of rolls.

You could also try liquid electrical tape.

Textile paint usually will work on pin holes. If the holes are large chances are the paint will eventually flake off. New curtains is the most sure cure but curtains aren't a "close enough for government work" thing. There are a thousand wrong ways and only one right way to install curtains and there is only one notch in the gear train that is the right notch.
A few years ago I learned how to change curtains on Zorki and FED 1s The first set took about 30 tries over a three-week period, complicated by the fact that one curtain had detached itself from the drum so I didn't have a reference point. The second curtain replacement took about three hours. It's been so long now since I did it that it wouldn't be easy. I do have a couple of old FSU camera candidates around should I ever get the urge again, however.

Posted by Stephen on Today at 1:33pm I've got a Perfex 55, with nice green leatherette, which I picked up for around a tenner on the dark site. I've never put a film through it. Does anyone have experience of Perfex cameras?
Mine takes decent photos within certain limits. I don't use the rangefinder and I keep the shutter at 1/100th. The shutter is the weakest link. Mine hangs up at slow speeds. I also doubt the accuracy of the fast speeds.
Check your shutter before you shoot and see if the curtains stay together when you turn the film advance. You might see an occasional gap. This occurs with my camera, but is no big deal as I just cover the lens when I wind the film.
Aside from these considerations, the camera has a solid feel and is fun to use.
