Hi, As a change from trains and planes here's a pic of the first real sports car I ever owned. It's a 1936 MG TA which I bought from a friend at work in the mid 1960s. By later standards it wasn't all that fast even after I played with the engine a bit, and its roadholding was such that at anything over 50 mph it went approximately where you pointed it. But it was great fun, and my wife and I enjoyed it at lot. Eventually we sold it for something a little more civilised, an MGB GT to supplement the normal family car, but we often had twinges of regret about letting it go. Peter

Peter -- wouldn't it be great to have that one back again!

Nice one Peter. I had an Austin Healy when I was in college, but at over 6 feet tall my head stuck up a bit.

I've only had one sports car in my life, and that was fairly recently. Alas, it only lasted one summer (2003)before it had to go! However, I'm actively looking for an "old" one to replace it with. They have been a secret passion of mine since I was 16!

Those old MG's were nice. I had a 1976 MGB Convertible. Fun to drive especially with the top down. But it was a DOG! By then they had gone from the dual carbs to a single one and junked it up with some other stuff to meet the newer US emission standards. My VW bus could beat it out from a dead stop even with the 2 foot long shifter that was on the floor.
